It usually comes down to the floor space in front of the shower. A swinging door needs clearance to open into the room, which many Gilbert master bathrooms have. A barn door slider runs along the outside of the opening instead, so it takes no floor space at all and suits a bathroom where the vanity or a wall is close to the shower. Sliders also give you a wider opening on a long shower.
Rain glass is a textured glass with a vertical rippled pattern. It still lets light through, so the shower does not go dark, but it blurs the view into the enclosure. It is a good choice when the shower is visible from the bedroom or a doorway, or in a shared family bathroom. It also disguises water spotting better than clear glass does.
East Valley water is hard, and mineral spotting is the main thing that ages shower glass here. Squeegeeing the panels after showering is genuinely the most effective habit. Textured glass such as rain glass hides spotting far better than clear glass, which is worth weighing up when you choose.
